Enrichment Lecture: “The Progressive Element in Indian English Poetry”

The Department of English Literature and Language organized an online Enrichment Lecture on “The Progressive Element in Indian English Poetry” for its students, research scholars, and faculty members on 29th March. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vijaya Singh, Associate Professor, Post Graduate Government College, Chandigarh.

Dr. Vijaya Singh began the session with the recitation of three poignant poems: Mujhse Pehli Si Mohabbat, Aurat, and Wo Jodti Pathar. These recitations set the tone for a deeper exploration of poetry's role in social movements, particularly during the Progressive Writers' Movement. She highlighted the role of the Progressive Writers' Association (PWA), which played a crucial part in shaping the movement.  The session concluded with an interactive segment between the speaker and the attendees of the lecture.
