The Department of English Literature and Language organized an alumna session titled “The Editor’s Desk: An English Graduate’s Journey from Campus to Career” on 19 September. The session featured Ms. Prachi Koolwal, an alumna of the Class of 2022, who is currently working as an Assistant Editor at Fingerprint Publishing. With experience in diverse genres ranging from historical fiction to self-help and romance, Ms. Koolwal has established herself as a promising cross-genre editor.
Through a comprehensive presentation, Ms. Koolwal offered an engaging account of her professional journey, tracing her path after postgraduate studies on becoming a structural editor. Drawing from her personal experience, she highlighted the importance of building a diverse portfolio, honing soft skills, and networking, emphasizing how these open doors for opportunities. She also threw light on the stages of her editorial journey, including the research phase, editorial tests, and interviews, thereby providing students with practical insights into the publishing industry. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, followed by a vote of thanks.
