1. What is the minimum eligibility for seeking admission to a programme in English Literature?   
For B.A., B.A. (H), M.A., Ph.D. programmes, a student must have obtained a minimum 55% overall aggregate of marks in the CBSE, IB or its equivalent national or state board.
 
 

2.Is there any Entrance Test for securing admission?

 
There is no Entrance Test required for admission to IIS (Deemed to be University). However, a student must have obtained a minimum 55% overall aggregate of marks in the CBSE, IB, or its equivalent national or state board.  
3. When can I apply for the forthcoming session?  
The application for the next session commencing from July 2024 are available now. You may submit your application both online and offline.  
4. Which text- books should the student purchase beforehand?  

There is no specific book that can provide all texts. Depending on the syllabus of each paper, the student has to either purchase a few books/ anthologies or borrow from the library. Each text prescribed is available in the library.

 
5. What is the scope of English (Hons.) programme?  
B.A. (Hons.) in English is one of the most sought- after undergraduate courses at our university. Using a variety of literary and even non- literary texts, the programme aims to develop a keen ability to discern contexts and infer meanings, using advanced critical thinking skills, among students. It is a degree that empowers students with higher order skills and a sound understanding of the society and the world, and thus makes them suitable for almost any career they may want to pursue.  
6. What are some of the courses offered in English (Hons.) programme?  
The English (Hons.) syllabus is designed in such a manner that in 6 semesters, it covers almost all the major literary periods and writers. Some of the courses offered are: "Pre-Romantic Poetry", "Romantic Poetry, Prose & Fiction", "Victorian Literature", "Nineteenth & Twentieth Century Literature", "Indian Literature in English," "Contemporary British Literature", "American Literature", "World Classics", etc.  
7. What are the career prospects for an English (Hons.) graduate?  
From academics/teaching, advertising, journalism, media, and translation to professional/content writing, blogging, and publishing, there are numerous fields open for these graduates. Sometimes, the selection of subsidiary subjects and the COSD course also determines the career path of the student.  
8. Do You Also Provide Internships?  

Yes, there are companies visiting us for placements and internships, but all depends upon the student's performance. Some of our students, after their graduation, go for internships at places requiring content writing, copywriting, publishing houses, etc. Again, this depends on the student's inclination and interest.
