The Department of English Literature and Language organized an Enrichment Lecture on “Walking in the Age of Surveillance: Leisure, Technology, and the Human in Ray Bradbury’s The Pedestrian” on 28th August. The guest speaker was Dr Ved Prakash, Asst. Professor, Department of English at CURAJ, Kishangarh. Dr Prakash has co-edited two books and presented his research papers at various prestigious foreign universities.
During his address, Dr Prakash talked about the continually increasing grip of technology in both our personal and public domain, and effects of screen culture and overflow of information, while drawing out insights from Bradbury’s The Pedestrian. He highlighted how the rise of AI and technological advancements is slowly wiping out the existence of art forms and literature. In the end, he emphasized the significance of stories and narratives in holding the pillars of humanity.
