UG & PG Student Orientation

The Department of English organised an Orientation session for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on 7th September, 2022 . Students hailing from B.A. (Pass Course), B.A.(Honours) and M.A. (English) attended the orientation. It began with a formal welcome by Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Additional Head, Department of English. With deployment of a Powerpoint presentation, she introduced the faculty members of the Department and oriented the students about other important features of the Department. The students were acquainted with the details of their curriculum, as well as other academic and extra-curricular aspects of the Department by all the faculty members in turn.

 

Students were also introduced to the infrastructure, learning resources, Central Library and Online library resources of the Department. They were encouraged to sign up for the British English Council (B.E.C.) value-added certificate course offered by the Univ. of Cambridge, U.K. for which the Department of English trains the interested students and makes arrangements for the Univ. of Cambridge, U.K.’s suite of exams for professional English on campus. The students were advised to attend and participate in the academic and research oriented & creative and eclectic department activities like guest lectures, alumna interactions, and to contribute their creative submissions for the in-house L-Ink magazine and to participate in Readers’ Club activities in order to benefit maximum through these out-of-the classroom teaching-learning methods. They were also advised to submit their research papers in UGC-CARE Listed Journal of Arts. In the end, all students who attended the session were requested to fill the Feedback form and give suggestions.
