Literature, Media & the In-Between (Alumna Interaction:14)

IIS (Deemed to be) University’s Department of English organized the 14th Alumna-Interaction session on Literature, Media & the In-Between for the students of English (Hons.) and M.A. English, online, on 27 Aug. 2021. The Speaker for the lecture was Iha Magazine, an alumna of the 2016 English (Hons.) batch, who is presently working as a Marketing Manager & CSE at Thot Media, Delhi.

Dr. Rimika Singhvi, the HOD, heartily welcomed and introduced the speaker and the topic of the lecture to the students.

In her lecture, Iha Magazine discussed the importance of developing skills such as creative writing and speaking. She shared her own journey how this degree helped her achieve the position where she is at presently. The lecture was open to interaction, where she answered queries about an ideal career, challenges of authenticity in digital media, her own experiences at the university and internship. According to her one’s learning, strengths and passion should be an ideal field of work. She concluded the lecture by pointing out that there are similarities in Literature and Media, but the one thing that literature helps us develop that media doesn’t is the ability to analyse through different points of views by broadening the perspective. The participants had varied remarks stating how the lecture inspired them and helped them understand the role of literature in the job market. The session came to an end with a vote of thanks by the Head.
