Dr. Rimika Singhvi, the HOD, extended a warm welcome to the speaker and introduced the topic of the lecture to the students. Pragya Chakraborty began by sharing her experiences at the University. Her interest in philology allowed her to learn foreign languages such as French, German and Russian. It also made her pursue an MA in English Philology at University of Latvia, Riga, in Europe through the prestigious Erasmus Scholarship. She highlighted importance of honing various skills such as content writing, speaking, and research. Her skillset let her secure a Content Writing Internship with Times of India. She encouraged the students to not only extend the knowledge beyond the academic curriculum but to also participate in the extra-curricular activities. She emphasized on the importance of seeking essential guidance from professors at the University. She further talked about how beneficial certification courses are, which led her to pursue 18 different courses that provided a support in her career right from the internship programs.
The lecture was followed by an interaction session wherein she answered queries regarding time management. She suggested a thoughtful prioritisation for managing academic studies and extra-curricular activities and to stay a step ahead of time by preparing beforehand. She advised to take part in activities so as to push the limits of comfort and conquer fear. The faculty members congratulated her on her success and the session came to an end with a vote of thanks by the HOD.
