The students will:

  1.  Develop an understanding of the post-Independence stage of development of Indian writing in English
  2. Investigate and evaluate the socio-cultural milieu of the time; the trends and individual style of the representative writers
  3. Critique various forms of literature and the writers’ themes and issues
  4. Appraise the emergence and growth of Indian Writing in English in the context of colonial experience
  5. Inculcate the research aptitude for literary and cultural studies in the context of texts and translations by Indian authors.
