2. Understand the impact of the socio-political and cultural issues reflected in Indian writing in English
3. Comprehend the representation of culture, identity, history, constructions of nationhood, etc. in the literary texts
4. Identify and articulate one’s social location in a complex, structurally unequal and often contradictory world.
5. Recognise and describe the cultural,  historical, social, economic and political forces that shape up the experiences of a character or an author
