The course will enable the students to:

  • Trace the evolution of Indian writing, including translated works and those in English 
  • Assess the socio-cultural and political milieu of the time; the trends and individual style of the representative writers and their themes, issues and pre-occupations
  • Evaluate the various literary genres in terms of constructs as ‘nation’, ’identity’ and’history’
