Reader’s Club Session on Kaafir

The Reader’s Club of the Department of English organised a session on the discussion of the web series Kaafir on 25 September 2019. Based on a true story, the 8 episode long series traced the experiences of a Pakistani woman and her Indian daughter, as they endeavour to return to Pakistan aided by a sympathetic Indian journalist. The students were asked to watch the series well in advance, which many of them did. Attendance at the event was notably contemplative, enthusiastic and discursive, as participants exchanged opinions on topics ranging from the characters’ sense of identity to the complexity of human relationships. The session was informative and enjoyed by all.
