The Department of English Literature and Language organised an Orientation session for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on the 8th and 10th of July respectively in Ojas Hall. The students of B.A. (Pass Course), B.A.(Honours), B.A. B.Ed. and M.A. (English) attended the orientation. It began with a formal welcome by Prof. Rimika Singhvi, HOD, Department of English Literature and Language. She also introduced the faculty members of the Department. The students were acquainted with the details of their curriculum along with the newly introduced Programme Structure under CBCS and Non-CBCS and Credit System, as well as other academic and extra-curricular aspects of the Department by all the faculty members through Powerpoint presentation. The students were also familiarised with the Infrastructure, Learning Resources, Central Library, Online Library Resources of the Department, Student Research Projects, Creative initiatives undertaken by the University, IISU Journal of Arts and the Star Alumnae. They were encouraged to access the e-library and avail the facility of subscriptions of e-journals for academic and research development by the University optimally. The students were advised to attend and participate in the academic and research-oriented & creative and extensive Department activities like guest lectures, and alumna interactions, to contribute their creative submissions for the in-house L-Ink Magazine and to participate in Readers’ Club activities in order to benefit through these out-of-the-classroom teaching-learning methods. They were also advised to submit their research papers to the UGC-CARE listed Journal of Arts. Furthermore, all students at the orientation session were requested to fill out the Feedback form and give suggestions, if any.
