The Department of English Literature and Language organized an online interactive session titled “Literature as a Mirror and a Map – Charting Life’s Trajectory” on February 10. Amanda Rebeiro, an alumna from the Class of 2015 and currently an educational consultant at Edustream, Dubai, was the guest speaker. Ms. Rebeiro discussed the profound impact of literature on various aspects of life, emphasizing its role in personality development. She cited “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “Ozymandias” by Percy Bysshe Shelley as examples of literature’s ability to impart life lessons. She also highlighted the skills gained through literary studies, such as organization, adaptability, research skills, mentorship, and attention to detail.
Drawing from her own experiences, she spoke about broadening perspectives through education and the importance of engaging with diverse communities. She encouraged students to enjoy their academic journey, balance work with self-care and friendships, and stay focused on their goals. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where Ms. Rebeiro advised students to maintain strong connections with their mentors.
