BEC Teacher Support Programme

The Department of English, IIS (deemed to be University) organised a BEC Teacher Support Programme on 17 February 2023 for its faculty members. The speaker for the day was Ms. Meera Singh, a CELTA qualified trainer who is a Presenter and Trainer with Cambridge University and Assessment. The programme began with a formal welcome by Dr. Rimika Singhvi, Head of the Department. Ms. Meera Singh opened the programme by explaining BEC and CEFR. With the help of an informative powerpoint presentation and a series of handouts, she walked the participants through both the conduction as well as preparation of the BEC exam. The talk progressed with discussions on different approaches to the English language and its multi-disciplinary aspects. She guided the participants on how to go beyond traditional modes of teaching and incorporate various effective tools. The lecture was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants and proved to be a guide to approach BEC and prepare the students for it. Ms. Meera Singh clarified the participants’ doubts and discussed their viewpoints based on their understanding of the programme.
