The Department of English Language and Literature organized an online alumna session, "Navigating the Transition: Unlocking Opportunities After a Literature Degree," on February 15. The session featured Ms. Pratiksha Rastogi, Class of 2020, who shared insights from her diverse career experiences. Ms. Rastogi, a writer, personal branding strategist, and entrepreneur, spoke about the broad career opportunities available to literature graduates. She challenged the misconception that a literature degree limits career choices, emphasizing the power of storytelling across industries. She shared her own journey, from pursuing an MBA to working as a content manager in Dubai, and later venturing into wedding planning and sustainable fashion.
She highlighted LinkedIn as a valuable tool for job opportunities, encouraged students to experiment with different fields, and stressed the importance of communication skills, adaptability, and personal branding. She advised students to explore careers in marketing, copywriting, consulting, and entrepreneurship, reassuring them that career paths are often non-linear. The session ended with an engaging Q&A, followed by a vote of thanks from Dr. Sanghmitra Rathore. Ms. Rastogi’s insights inspired students to embrace career flexibility and explore diverse opportunities beyond conventional roles.
