Alumna Interaction

The Department of English organised an Alumna-Interaction, as part of an ongoing series, for its
students on 30 November 2022. Ms Purvai Soni (class of 2016) was invited to lead a session on
“The Pursuit of Creative Communication”. Ms Soni is currently working as a Content Associate
for PR Marketing) at Fynd, a software company in Ahmedabad. She shared her experiences of
lessons learned through volunteering and internship and urged the students to look for such
opportunities during the early years of college-life to get a headstart in the vocational world. She
further encouraged the students to volunteer in events such as the JLF, Theatre and Film-festivals
as well as charitable initiatives, and to also keep an eye on glass door-reviews for shortlisting
prospective places of work after graduation. Ms Soni also shared the importance of being open to
suggestions and to constructive criticism, alongside working towards a roundabout culture-
fit. The session ended with a very engaging round of Q&A wherein students clarified their
doubts regarding the speaker’s switch from literary studies to creative corporate communication
and other attendant issues.
