An Alumna-interaction was held in the Department of English Literature & Language, on 29 August ‘23, as a part of a regular series of experience-sharing sessions. The Alumna invited for it was Ms. Ishika Bhansali from the class of 2018 who graduated with B.A. Hons. from the University. Ms. Ishika is currently a student at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, pursuing M.Sc. in English literature (focusing on Enlightenment, Victorian, & Romantic British writings). She is also a member of the Reading Club at her University and works as a volunteer to organise socials for fellow participants and readers. Entitled “The Scholarly Vocation”, the session saw Ishika talk at great lengths about her academic journey so far, the process of choosing a University for further studies abroad after her undergraduate studies in India, details about the Master’s programme she is currently enrolled in, something about her recently-submitted Dissertation on “Criminal Minds in the Short Stories of Edgar Allan Poe”, her plans for pursuing PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK, her involvement in creative and artistic pursuits, content-writing as well as volunteering on campus. It was a very informative and interactive session wherein the attendees had a lot to take away from.
