Literature & Allied Areas
The Dept. of English organized the 13th Alumna Interaction Session on 12 June 2021. Ms. Kritika Rathore from the class of 2018 was invited to speak on the topic “Literature & Allied Areas” who explored diverse areas in and around Literature including research, content writing, journalism as well as programme-management. Beginning with her journey as a student majoring in Eng. Lit. at the University, she talked about her first student project on Art Spiegelman’s Maus, a graphic novel, which brought her interest to research and led her to pursuing Masters in the subject and clearing NET too.
Ms. Rathore went on to sharing her experiences while dabbling in editing at The Hindu and Caravan, a literary magazine, as well as working as a Project Co-ordinator with Teamwork Arts for managing their events such as the UN Womens’ virtual event on women’s empowerment and the JLF. She further discussed the importance of engaging in various opportunities available to Lit. students such as internships at publishing houses and volunteering at literature festivals for they open up vast fields of knowledge and provide practical skills and experience in allied areas. She also emphasized the importance of forming connections and building a good CV to create a lasting impression.
The talk was followed by an interactive session wherein many participants got answers to their queries, especially when the speaker shared some useful tips for cracking NET and tracking work opportunities through portals such as LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Talent. The session ended with an informal vote of thanks proposed by the Dept. Head.
