World Literatures (Theory)
The Course will enable the students to acquire a critical understanding of the classics and their contemporary relevance and gain an insight into the wide-ranging themes and stylistic treatment of the chosen texts, for examining a selection of world classics in translation.
The students will:
CO91. Familiarize themselves with a selection of world classics (earlier writings) in translation and observe the unique characteristics of writings belonging to varied culture, society and time.
CO92. Critically appreciate the classics and gauge their contemporary relevance
CO93. Perceive and value cultural diversity and reinterpret the place of the self as an identity culturally situated in the global context
CO94. Investigate and evaluate literary experiments with genre and literary mode across the globe
CO95. Recognize the literary value of translations and its nuances
CO96.Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction.
