Objective: 
The course will enable the students to:
• Familiarize themselves with the nuances of language-use and the mechanics of research methodology
• Attempt literary appreciation of poetry and prose
• Get introduced to the concept of literary research and with the terminology, tools and techniques associated with research activity
• Get sensitized to the significance of systematic planning and execution of research activity and sensitize them to the requirements of cohesion and coherence 
 
Learning Outcomes -
The students will be able to:
• Get an insight into literary elements and identify the use of figures of speech
• Appreciate the role of literary forms and structures in shaping a text’s meaning
• Gain an understanding of  the key elements of research-based writing, viz. reading, evaluating sources, and developing an argument
