Objective: 
The course will enable the students to:
Familiarize themselves with the nuances of language-use and the mechanics of research methodology
Attempt literary appreciation of poetry and prose
Get introduced to the concept of literary research and with the terminology, tools and techniques associated with research activity
Get sensitized to the significance of systematic planning and execution of research activity and sensitize them to the requirements of cohesion and coherence 
 
Learning Outcomes -
The students will be able to:
Get an insight into literary elements and identify the use of figures of speech
Appreciate the role of literary forms and structures in shaping a text’s meaning
Gain an understanding of  the key elements of research-based writing, viz. reading, evaluating sources, and developing an argument
