Course Objectives:
The course will enable the students to:
· Explain the modern English grammatical structures and their application
· Examine the basic concepts of phonetics, word-stress and formations
· Develop strong compositional skills.
Course Outcomes -
The students will:
· Develop a practical understanding of the various technical aspects of the English language
· Examine phonetics and phonology for a better understanding of the organs of speech, phonemic symbols, classification of vowels and consonants, and syllable-stress
· Develop a deeper knowledge of the nuances of grammar and the importance of four skills, viz. reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Critique longer pieces of discourse independently with an advanced knowledge of different strategies of comprehension
