The students will: CO11. Develop an understanding of the religious, socio-intellectual and cultural thoughts of the 17th and 18th centuries CO12. Critique the key themes in representative texts of the period, including sin, transgressions, love, pride, revenge, sexuality, and human follies, among others CO13. Compare and contrast different forms of poetry, such as metaphysical, cavalier, and heroic poetry CO14. Interpret the literary devices, terms and techniques relevant to the metaphysical school of poetry CO15. Formulate an understanding to investigate the metaphysical poetry under the lens of traditional to contemporary critical approaches
