The Department of English planned a visit to the Rajasthan International Film Festival on January 20, 2016. More than 18 nations participated in the festival this year. The II and IV semester postgraduate students of English Literature attended the premiere of the movie ‘Rough Book’ at Cinemapolis, World Trade Park, Jaipur.
The screening started with a brief introduction by the Director, Mr. Anant Mahadevan who explained the idea behind ‘Rough Book’ and the significance of the title.
The students sat spellbound through the 100 minute movie which had the theme that the Indian Education system is still in ‘rough book’ mode and needs to be ‘made fair’ to actually educate children. The students identified closely with the characters of the movie and the breathtaking natural scenery added to the beautiful experience. \
After the movie discussions were held to critically analyse various aspects of the film. The students avidly discussed the imagery, symbols and metaphors used in the film. The students will be presenting a Class Activity on the same.
