A two day Teacher Support Program (TSP) in the nature of a workshop, was organized by the Department of English in association with Cambridge University Press, New Delhi on 8-9 January 2016. The Resource Person was Ms. Jasleen Walia, a freelance trainer from New Delhi, who conducted four sessions over the two days with the faculty participants. The faculty members were trained and equipped to prepare students to take BEC(Business English Certificates) Cambridge ESOL Tests of English. They were briefed on the importance of BEC, the format and pattern of the exam and the methods that could be employed in classrooms towards preparation.
The sessions covered the four skills of language-learning and proficiency :reading writing, listening and speaking. Different audio-visual aids and handouts were used to make the exercises more interesting and informative for the teacher. Both individual and pair/group activities were used to make the objectives of all exercises appear clearer to the participants. Teaching material was also handed to the teachers to aid teaching in the classroom. The workshop thus greatly facilitated and helped the teachers in preparing themselves to help students do well on the Tests.
