Guest Lecture on Film Criticism by Dr. Ritu Sen

A Guest Lecture on ‘Film Criticism’ was organized by the Department of English at The IIS University campus on August 31, 2015. Dr. Ritu Sen from St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur was invited as the speaker for the same. The lecture began with the relevance and components of this upcoming genre and moved on to a brief critical analysis of three movies Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge and Monsoon Wedding. Through this example, the resource person enlightened the students on how to study films on the basis of culture, form, historical background, theme, narration, characterization, etc. This thought-provoking lecture on the current trend of study of films motivated the audience to take up research work on this latest genre.
