Objective: 
The course will enable the students to:
• Understand and interpret Shakespearean plays by introducing the students to the dramatic conventions of the Elizabethan Age
• Comprehend the key terms, concepts and dramatic genres in Shakespeare's plays
• Undertake a close textual analysis of Shakespeare’s sonnets
• Interpret and critique the sonnets within an academic argument
 
Learning Outcomes-
The students will be able to:
• Gain an understanding of Shakespeare’s use of literary and linguistic conventions in his plays and sonnets
• Make critical appraisals that reflect the ability to assess ideas and themes in the original texts, using  secondary sources
