A Reader’s Club activity was organized by the Department of English on the topic ‘Animated Discourses’ on 29 February 2020. The event included the screening of three short movies – Negative Space, Sleeping Betty and The Maker – followed by a group discussion. The videos were based on human relationships and gave an insight into the modern mind, inviting discussions on such topics as symbolism, the nature of time, the fragility of human interaction and the significance of music in the process of creation. The activity came to an end with a discourse on how the form and style of animation provides a different perspective to humour, caricature and the nature of storytelling.
